How to Turn Off Fast Boot in Windows 11

  1. Open the Control Panel:
  2. Press Win + S to open the search bar, type Control Panel, and hit Enter.

  3. Navigate to Power Options:

  4. In the Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.

  5. Access Power Button Settings:

  6. In the left-hand sidebar, click Choose what the power buttons do.

  7. Change Settings that are Currently Unavailable:

  8. Click the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top. You might need to provide administrator credentials.

  9. Disable Fast Boot:

  10. Scroll down to the Shutdown settings section.
  11. Uncheck the box for Turn on fast startup (recommended).

  12. Save Changes:

  13. Click Save changes at the bottom.

Note

  • Disabling Fast Boot may result in slightly longer boot times, but it can help with troubleshooting hardware issues, driver problems, or accessing the BIOS/UEFI consistently.
  • If the Fast Boot option isn’t visible, it could be because:
  • Hibernate is disabled. To re-enable it, open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
    powercfg /hibernate on

Then return to the steps above.
  • Your device or system configuration does not support Fast Boot.
